NTL IRELAND €100 MILLION INVESTMENT IN BROADBAND
ntl Ireland has announced a major investment in upgrading its cable network that will enable it to deliver broadband services to over 100,000 homes by the end of this year and to the rest of its network by the end of 2006. Overall, ntl will invest €100 million in upgrading its cable network. ntl is announcing a number of improvements to its existing broadband products. Customers who sign up from August will be able to choose between:
• A 300kbps broadband service for just €25 per month.
• A 750kbps broadband service for just €35 per month.
• A 1.5Mb broadband service for just €50 per month.
• Subscribers will also get free installation and free first three months subscription.
The 300kbps entry level service is the lowest cost broadband service available in Ireland. ntl’s higher speed broadband products are the fastest broadband consumer option available at extremely competitive prices. This investment confirms ntl as a long-term investor in communications infrastructure in Ireland and a key local loop competitor to eircom. Graham Sutherland, Managing Director of ntl Ireland said, “This is a very significant day for ntl, its customers, associates and shareholders. Today marks a major drive to deliver widespread availability of broadband to homes within our network reach and will provide real platform competition within these areas.” www.ntl.com/mediacentre/press/display.asp?id=719
