A 42-year-old man, ‘Mr M’, has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment without probation, after he pleaded guilty to charges of infringing the German Copyright Act over a period of two years, the Business Software Alliance has announced. One of Germany’s largest ever cases of software piracy, police estimated Mr M. created and sold an estimated 20-30,000 illegal compilation CDs worth €1-1.5 million containing business software, games, music and films. Mr M. mostly supplied illegal resellers in Germany, Italy, Greece and Switzerland who ordered up to 60 CDs per week for re-sale.
