NEARLY 40,000 TELEWORKERS IN IRELAND
The results of a CSO survey show that nearly 10% (148,100) of persons in non-agricultural employment work from home to some extent and almost 60,000 of these use a computer with a telecommunications link. Of the latter, 38,700 are home-based teleworkers, i.e. persons for whom a computer with a telecommunications link is essential for them to be able to work from home. These results are taken from the Quarterly National Household Survey module on Teleworking which was asked in the June to August quarter of 2002. A further 2,100 teleworkers were identified in the agricultural sector but they are not included in the analyses presented in the report. http://www.cso.ie/pressreleases/qnhsq402.html
